DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Grain Originator FLSA STATUS: Exempt
SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Commodity Manager
General Summary: Responsible
for developing and maintaining corn origination relationships with producer and
commercial accounts. Assists with grain
accounting, organizing producer meetings, establishing various types of origination
contracts to increase producer direct business for the ethanol plant.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Develops
and maintain grain origination relationships.
- Understands
and implements corn origination strategies using various types of cash,
futures and OTC contracts.
- Assists
with grain accounting following all requirements of IDALS Grain Warehouse
Bureau.
- Works
closely with the corn origination team to help manage corn flow logistics
into the ethanol plant.
- Assists
with probing, grading, scaling corn/co-product trucks and generates
accurate paperwork of the same while ensuring products are within
appropriate measure for plant operations.
- Possesses
a basic knowledge of ethanol plant risk management and ethanol production
process.
- Assists
with outbound commodity logistics as necessary.
- Contributes
to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed in a
self-directed fashion while focusing on continuous improvement in all
aspects of the job.
- Completes
required training and attends additional training/conferences as
recommended by the company.
- Performs other
duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills,
and Abilities: Excellent
communication skills, organizational skills, computer literacy especially in
Microsoft Office or equivalent and ability to multi-task.
Education and Experience: High
School diploma or equivalent; BA or BS or equivalent experience preferred. Grain origination experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: Ability
to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Working Conditions: Standard
office setting with the potential of exposure to noise and dust regularly. Occasional work in the ethanol plant will result
in exposure to all elements of weather, loud noise and dusty conditions; in
addition of exposure to chemicals and heavy moving equipment/machinery.
