JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician 1 FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Maintenance Supervisor
General Summary: Responsible
for anticipating, diagnosing and repairing all areas of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicates,
coordinates and schedules all repairs and preventive maintenance with
plant personnel, ensuring problems and tasks are addressed in a timely
manner
- Communicates
with Maintenance Supervisor when parts or outside labor will be needed to
complete tasks
- Remove,
install, minor rebuilds, weld, torch, lubricate and clean all equipment
associated with the facility and grounds.
- Performs
equipment, instrument and minor electrical work >120volt. as needed
- Completes
tasks assigned by Maintenance Supervisor
as scheduled or on-call basis
- Utilizes
call out log to document priority and need of after hour requests
- Assists Maintenance
Purchasing with inventory management
- Completes
assignments in CMMS, labor hours, parts withdrawals, etc.
- Ability to
understand and utilize Mapcon software on a daily basis
- Maintains
compliance with all city, state and federal regulations
- Maintains
a safe working manner at all times
- Operates
heavy equipment including fork lifts, boom lifts and scissor lifts
- Operates
street sweeper daily throughout the facility and completes appropriate
paperwork in accordance with permit regulations
- Snow
removal on a seasonal basis
- Assists in
maintaining the maintenance area such as: cleaning bench and welding table
as needed
- .Thoroughly maintains lawn throughout the facility with mowing and weed control, keeping rail line clear of trees and brush and completes appropriate paperwork to ensure compliance
- Transports
various paperwork from the plant to the office daily
- Picks up
parts for the facility as needed
- Completes
required training and attends additional training as directed by the
company
- Other
duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills,
and Abilities: Ability to weld, torch, pump alignment,
material handling systems, and forklift experience. Has a general understanding of lockout/tag
out (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, and line break permits. Great
communication skills and problem solving. Knowledge of steam systems, reading
schematics/P&ID’s preferred.
Education and Experience: Prior
maintenance experience preferred. A.A., B.S. and/or technical education is preferred.
Physical Requirements: Must
have the ability to: lift at least 60 pounds, climb ladders and work at heights
of 200 feet and manage confined space entry. Must have the ability to stand or
walk for long periods of time. Must be able to qualify for respirator use and
wear approved fall protection equipment.
Working Conditions:
Work areas are exposed to all elements of weather, loud noise, and dusty
conditions. Must be able to work safely with exposure to chemicals and while
working with heavy moving machinery.
